Although Ohio has no current system to track and report brain injury figures, by using the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) estimate of a 2% rate, there are approximately 227,000 Ohioans living with disabilities resulting from TBI. This rate is based on the 2000 census population of 11,353,000.
In addtion, CDC estimates that every year in Ohio there are 38,624 TBI-related emergency department visits and 7,607 non-fatal hospitalizations due to TBI.
