New Jersey Legal Information

If you are looking for New Jersey legal information, many different resources are available. The first thing you need to do if decide what type of legal information you are seeking. The New Jersey Constitution is the bedrock for for all legal information in New Jersey.

The first paragraph of Article 1 states: "All persons are by nature free and independent, and have certain natural and unalienable rights, among which are those of enjoying and defending life and liberty, of acquiring, possessing, and protecting property, and of pursuing and obtaining safety and happiness."

It is from that document that springs laws written by the New Jersey Legislature. These statutes will cover all areas of legal information in the state of New Jersey.

In addition to the Constitution and the Legislature are opinions of the New Jersey Supreme Court and the appellate courts. This legal information is based on the laws written by the legislature and how they relate to the Constitution of New Jersey.
