Symptoms - Traumatic Brain Injury

What are signs and symptoms of Traumatic Brain Injury? A Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) is damage to the brain caused by an external physical force that leaves a person with significant problems in physical functioning, social skills and/or the ability to think.

Some signs and symptoms include: depression, sleepiness, irritability, emotional outbursts, difficulty concentrating, libido being very low and slowed thinking.

Brain injuries are known for causing extreme stressors in family and interpersonal relationships. Symptoms of traumatic brain injury should lessen over time as the brain heals but sometimes the symptoms worsen because of the patient's inability to adapt to the brain injury. For this and other reasons, it is not uncommon for psychological problems to arise and worsen after brain injury. There are a wide variety of symptoms that can occur after brain injury.

Signs and symptoms of injury to the frontal lobe of the brain include: loss of movement of various body parts (paralysis); loss of spontaneity in interacting with others; mood changes in personality; difficulty with problem solving and inability to focus on task.
