Wisconsin has received $856,000 in Federal TBI Planning, Implementation and Post- Demonstration Grants. The State has provided approximately $476,486 in matching support.

Wisconsin does not currently have a Federal TBI
Program State Grant, but reports the following progress:
1. Established the Brain Injury Association of
Wisconsin as a central point of contact for
information and referral services.
2. Established a data system to record and
analyze data on service needs, individual
outcomes, program evaluation, and customer
satisfaction.
The Brain Injury Council of Wisconsin, with
members appointed by the Secretary of the
Department of Health and Family Services, is
currently working to:
1. Explore the feasibility of
developing a Brain Injury Trust Fund as a way to
increase funds for brain injury services;
2. Train
direct service staff statewide to work more
effectively with persons with brain injury;
3. Provide
self advocacy training for persons with brain injury
and their family members to empower them to
advocate for expanded and improved services;
4. Redesign Wisconsin’s Brain Injury Waiver in order
to reduce the waiting list.
The Department of Health and Family Services continues to work in close partnership with the Brain Injury Association of Wisconsin and the Wisconsin Coalition For Advocacy to sustain and enhance initiatives previously funded by the TBI State Grant Program.
