Pennsylvania has received $550,000 in Federal TBI Planning and Implementation Grants, providing $275,056 as matching support.

Grant objectives, as reported by the state of Pennsylvania, include:
1. Establish a comprehensive, coordinated
statewide delivery system that meets the
needs of individuals with TBI and their
families.
2. Provide TBI education to targeted groups including individuals
with TBI and their families, social service agencies, school personnel,
medical personnel and community-based agencies.
3. Create a TBI Information and Referral
Clearinghouse to include a toll-free line,
resource book, a library, and a TBI Web site.
4. Enhance local service systems for persons
with TBI by developing linkages between
existing programs.
Reported progress in Pennsylvania includes:
1. Provided education and awareness of the
causes of TBI as a result of sports activities.
2. Promoted education and networking at the
grass roots level focused on TBI through the
creation and expansion of support groups.
3. Created a TBI Information and Referral Clearinghouse which includes
a BI Help Line, web site, and fulfillment center. Sent over 2,445
pieces of TBI materials and resources.
4. Provided Pre-enrollment Assistance for over
110 individuals to enter the system and
receive necessary services and supports.
5. Conducted the first Statewide TBI Summit.
Pennsylvania continues to strengthen its interagency collaborations to address issues identified in its action plan, including the need for a greater public awareness of TBI.
