Oklahoma has received $830,886 in Federal TBI Planning, Implementation, and Post-Demonstration Grants, and has matched the Federal grants with $429,763.

Oklahoma does not currently have a Federal TBI
Program State Grant, but the following progress has been reported:
Progress
1. Developed a discharge planning and referral
model used in the ED study to determine
patient status and service needs post injury.
2. Updated TBI information for VR training
curriculum; contrasted Wyoming data and
helped prepare Oklahoma Trainers to deliver
VR training in Wyoming.
3. Developed, distributed, and evaluated head
injury pamphlets additional to the ED,
hospital/rehabilitation, VR, and BIA of OK
pamphlets in English and Spanish;
continuous distribution of pamphlets and other
TBI information.
4. Conducted study of TBI patients in full-care
DDSD group homes; provision of TBI-related
services recommended in Action Plan.
5. Contracted with University hospitals to
conduct follow-up of children under 19 years
discharged live to determine post injury status,
services referred and services needed;
second follow-up completed; data analysis
underway.
Continued work is focused on maintaining system advances and improving service needs highlighted by new Assessment results.
Oklahoma completed a new statewide Needs and Resources Assessment and Action Plan to guide work and next steps. Establishing a Medicaid Waiver remains a goal; a study of individuals 5-7 years post severe injury was conducted by the TBI Program with DHS to determine evidence of need of waiver; planning for a waiver with DHS as lead agency is underway.
A comprehensive resource directory with section descriptions of importance to individuals with TBI has been completed.
