The Rehabilitation Services Commission, located at 400 E. Campus View Blvd., Columbus, OH 43235-4604, serves as the lead agency for the Ohio Federal TBI Program.
Ohio has received $899,950 in Federal TBI Implementation and Post-Demonstration Grants, and has provided approximately $510,000 in matching support.

Ohio has no current Federal TBI Program State Grant, but reports the following progress:
1. Established and sustained resource facilitation
at five hospitals in Northeast Ohio.
2. Established Family-to-Family support network.
3. Established Educational Resource Team for
training, resources, and consultation to assist
students with transition back to school and
community after a brain injury.
4. Conducted ongoing training with physicians
and health personnel on the long term issues
and needs of their patients who have
sustained a brain injury.
5. Conducted two studies on timing and impact of follow-up with
patients with TBI post discharge from hospital.
6. Established effective coding system at Level III Trauma Center
for identification and follow up of patients with mild TBI.
7. Conducted surveys and video interview with
Native American communities regarding
prevalence, services needed and available,
and issues with accessibility and system
utilization in Ohio ( a non-Reservation State).
Ohio is completing a comprehensive, statewide TBI Needs and Resources Assessment and will base the July 2006-June 2009 Action Plan on results. The Brain Injury Advisory Committee is restructuring areas of focus to better align efforts with needs.
The Committee is encouraging passage of the Ohio General Assembly H.B. 406, introduced 11/05, calling for the development of the Traumatic Brain Injury Fund for Ohio nonprofit organizations whose purpose is to assist survivors and families of survivors of traumatic brain injury by providing community-based programming.
