Grant Objectives

2. Identify legislation and regulatory policy that obstructs this access, and modify accordingly.
3. Increase public awareness of TBI service issues.
4. Familiarize educators, State employees, and others responsible for providing services and supports with the TBI best practices.
5. Incorporate the needs of Native Americans into the service and support systems, and ensure their input into the implementation process.
6. Coordinate Native American medical and service delivery systems with statewide systems.

Progress

1. Completed a TBI Needs and Resources Assessment.
2. Montana legislation created a special revenue fund for public information and education on TBI and established a governor-appointed TBI Statewide Advisory Council.

Continuing Effort

Montana continues to develop its information and referral program; create coordinated services on Montana’s seven Indian Reservations; and create training modules for providers and individuals with TBI and their families. Cultural competence is infused in the project via the Native American representation on the TBI Statewide Advisory Council.
