Maine has received $350,000 in Federal TBI Planning and Implementation Grants, and the state has provided $203,532 in matching support.

The grant objectives of the Maine Federal TBI Program are:
1. Introduce TBI Trust Fund legislation.
2. Disseminate the TBI State Action Plan.
3. Conduct educational and public awareness
activities by enhancing the BIA ME's help line;
providing 20 direct TBI educational sessions
and at least two "Train the Trainer" sessions
annually; and providing short-term case
management and I&R services.
4. Strengthen partnerships by increasing
stakeholder representation in the Lead
Agency, BIA ME, and the ABI Advisory
Council; and promoting the development of
MOA's/MOU's by the Lead Agency.
5. Enhance data collection activities by:
developing a TBI Data Systems Work Group
to assess current State data systems.
6. Strengthen the Infrastructure for continued
program evaluation by holding five forums in
conjunction with the ABI Advisory Council,
and developing outcome measures and
utilizing the evaluation results for quality
improvement purposes.
Progress reported in the TBI program include:
1. Established a TBI Statewide Advisory Board.
2. Conducted 12 focus groups and 13 personal
interviews with and distributed 550 surveys to
individuals with TBI and their families;
conducted five focus groups with and
distributed 200 surveys to providers for Needs
and Resources Assessment (NRA) process.
3. Distribute results of NRA.
Maine will address some of the issues identified in its TBI State Action Plan to improve the lives of individuals with TBI.
