Georgia does not currently have a Federal TBI Program State Grant but reports the following progress:

1. Established the Brain and Spinal Injury Trust Fund Commission as the state’s Lead Agency.

2. Improved the State’s TBI Registry, identifying 44,484 people with TBI in 2004.

3. Collaborated with the state’s Area Agencies on Aging to expand the Gateway database - a statewide resource listing of over 17,000 resources for people who are elderly or have disabilities - to include resources for people with TBI.

As the lead agency, the Commission has developed the Traumatic Injury Advisory Committee to lead systems change. The Committee is in the process of updating the State’s Needs and Resources Assessment and State Action Plan. The Committee is also working with the Division of Public Health to analyze new data from the State’s TBI Registry, and is developing materials to mail to people identified by the Registry.
