Cohen, Placitella & Roth represents clients that have suffered a traumatic brain injury (TBI) in incidents including auto accidents, falls, and workplace injuries. Traumatic brain injuries cause physical, cognitive, social, and vocational changes that can affect an individual permanently. In many cases recovery becomes a lifelong process of adjustments and accommodations for the individual and the family. Symptoms of a TBI may include headache, nausea, confusion or other cognitive problems, a change in personality, depression, irritability, and other emotional and behavioral problems. Some people may have seizures as a result of a TBI.

We are sensitive to the needs of the client’s family, recognizing the stresses and changes which traumatic brain injuries bring to bear. In addition to aggressively pursuing the compensation our clients deserve, we will make sure that they receive information regarding all of the rehabilitation and resources available to guarantee the best possible recovery from their injury. Our attorneys work with a group of carefully chosen experts and specialists to complete a thorough evaluation to clearly identify the long-term effects of the client's TBI.

Recently, a jury awarded $25 million dollars to our client who suffered traumatic brain injuries after being in a car accident. We proved that a shopping center where the accident took place was also responsible because it failed to build the shopping center exit properly, so that vehicles leaving the plaza could accelerate and safely merge with traffic. We secured expert testimony from a number of medical professionals about the enormous challenges and expenses in caring for a TBI patient. The jury agreed and our client was award fair compensation in a verdict that was listed in "The 100 Highest Verdicts of 2004", published by the National Law Journal.
